For children in Manila's dumps
A living hell crowded with children, where I never met an old person, and whose very sight cannot but leave a wound in your heart". With this comment Fr. Danilo Salezze, General Director of the Messenger of Saint Anthony, described his experience at the garbage dump sites of Manila. Fr. Danilo's visit to the Philippines was conducted to finalise plans for this year's June 13 project, the most demanding project undertaken by St Anthony's Charities.
Our Saint's charity organisation has been present in Manila for the last 6 years and has been sponsoring a small and local NGO which is working in the great metropolitan dumpsites in favour of children.
For these children we are planning to build a school at Muzon Taytay, in the province of Rizal, which borders onto Metro Manila. The school will cater for 600 children, and will offer them human and vocational training.
