The realization of this project of horticulture farming under irrigation has gone a long way in transforming my life. I am a widows with six children’s my husband who was the family breadwinner died in 2009 as a results of boat accident and therefore i was left in charge of the family of six children’s. Previously to support my family i used to survive at the shore of Lake Victoria through washing fishing gears to the fishermen, this could earn me Kshs 100 per day which was hardly enough to sustain us. In most occasions we could spend without any food and two of my elder children are had to drop out of school in order to assist me put food on the table.
As among the first beneficiaries of this project, i have received great hope and the purpose to live again. This project has made accessibility of fresh quality vegetable and fruits very easy for us. Through this project we can now harvest vegetables and fruits which we in turn sales at the local and nearby market a good prices to provide our daily bread. This project has brought hope to my children as i can now save little income for their education.
